About Dr. Hoffman

Personal

Many people often wake up tired. They feel grouchy and out of sorts. Being tired throughout the day is a common but dismal dysfunction. We can sometimes have trouble on the job or fall asleep when we should be working. Worse, some drive exhausted, which, as we all know, is worse than driving under the influence of alcohol and can cause accidents. Sleep deprivation can also lead to depression, where some people find themselves on pills for the first time.

As parents, many of us don't realize that ADHD has many of the same symptoms as sleep deprivation, which includes not getting enough sleep and often leads to common misdiagnosis.

The trouble may be Sleep Apnea.

We think we've slept through the night but never get into a solid REM sleep cycle so our body can repair itself. Night after night, our body struggles to breathe. It is forced to forgo much-needed daily repair and gets suffocated.

I can help!

Hi! I'm Howard J. Hoffman, D.D.S. Actually, my patients and even friends call me Doc H. You may remember hearing me talking about conscious sedation on the radio, which earned me another nickname, "Miami's original sedation dentist." I am a member of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry (AAPMD).

Having practiced dentistry for over 45 years and working in Sleep Apnea since 1997.

Here, our center treats hundreds of Florida patients with snoring, obstructive sleep apnea, TMJ, and headache issues. I am the only dentist in Miami, Broward, and Orlando who has limited my practice to specialize only in sleep apnea and have offices in Miami-DadeBroward, and Palm Beach counties, and the greater Orlando area. Coming soon: Tampa.

I, too, started out as a big-time snorer! Like most people, I didn't know anything about sleep apnea until I was introduced to it at a TMJ course in 1997. I started treatment and was amazed when it made me feel better. I had more energy, could think more clearly, and felt more positive.

My wife, Judy and I are the proud grandparents of four amazing grandchildren. They are the stars in our eyes! The oldest is beginning middle school and the youngest has just turned one. At the ages of 11, 7, 3 and 1, they keep us busy.

Hug Family Love Ones

We love and miss traveling during this COVID era, particularly to national parks. We also like going to concerts such as the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffett and Bob Dylan.

Living just a mile from the ocean, we often take walks in the evening. At night, we have the beach mostly to ourselves, and the cool ocean breeze rocks the few boats left near the shore.

Judy is an elementary school teacher and enjoys gardening. And I am a life-learner and perpetual student. I take a zillion courses a year because I love learning new and better things.

All the while, I'm here to continue to help Florida residents sleep better every night.
